The offense is led by Freshman All-American RB Kenneth Dixon... and that's about it. Kansas should pin its ears back on Dixon, and try to barricade this one-trick pony. Texas Tech transfer Scotty Young is the de facto cornerback. In other words, he will take the snaps, and not much else. He doesn't do much, which isn't a bad thing: he rarely turns the ball over.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs are strong up front, but get progressively weaker from there outward. The secondary is nothing to lose sleep over, but Defensive End IK Enemkpali has 4.5 sacks and an interception. Le'Vander Liggins will be decent in the secondary, but he'll be the least of KU's concerns. KU needs to worry about catching the ball without a defender there before we get ahead of ourselves...
Graduate transfer Daniel Cobb, who played for Texas Tech in KU's overtime loss to the Red Raiders last year, leads the team with eight tackles for a loss. LA Tech leads the nation in tackles for loss, with 30, and is second in sacks, averaging 4 a game. It will be a challenge for the Kansas offense (a lot of things will be) but it is also a chance for KU to prove itself against good competition.
The Kansas defense should flex its muscles this week, and the offense should get just enough going to pull this one out. Let's hope the special teams just keeps on keeping on.
Prediction:
Kansas 21
LA Tech 10
